Before you come in
A little preparation makes your first PrEP visit quicker and may save you a repeat test.
What to bring to your first PrEP visit
| Bring | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Passport or Thai ID | Registration and your prescription |
| List of medicines and supplements | Checks for interactions and kidney load |
| Recent test results, if any | May avoid repeating a test |
| Your current PrEP pack, if you already take it | Shows brand and dose for a refill |
You can book with a first name or nickname. Message us first on LINE or WhatsApp if you’d like to know whether you can start on the day of your visit; we’ll tell you what’s possible.
At your first visit
- A private conversation with a doctor about your health, the sex you have and which option fits: daily, 2-1-1 or injectable PrEP.
- Tests: an HIV test, a kidney check and a hepatitis B test, with STI screening where it makes sense. Our guide to PrEP tests and results explains each one.
- Your prescription and plan: how to take your tablets, when protection begins, and what to do if you miss a dose.
Many visits take about an hour, though we can’t promise exact timings. If you had a possible exposure recently, tell the doctor, because it changes the order of tests.
Exposed in the last 72 hours? You need PEP, not PrEP. Ask us about urgent PEP.
Follow-up visits every three months
First visit vs follow-up visits
| Point | First visit | Follow-up visit |
|---|---|---|
| Main tests | HIV, kidney, hepatitis B, STI screen | HIV test, STI screen; kidney check when due |
| Conversation | Which option suits you | Side effects, missed doses, changes in your life |
| You leave with | Your first supply and a plan | Your next supply |
Book your follow-up when you have about two weeks of tablets left; see PrEP refills in Bangkok. Planning a trip? Read PrEP for travellers to Thailand.
